Beautiful Prints - Very Expensive Ink!
Review From: Jim Olsen, Aug 19, 2005
I purchased an 8750 because I needed to print large quantities of big prints. Right out of the box I was impressed - absolutely beautiful prints - when using HP Photo Proofing paper ($2.00 per sheet!!). Using other papers there is a noticable color shift or inks don't dry properly.
My first job was to print about 50 11x14's in both full color and black & white. I decided that the 'normal' setting was great for these prints. To complete the job I used 5 photo-grey cartridges (I think $34ea), 2 tri-color cartridges ($25ea. or so) and most of the photo-blue cartridge.
The HP photo-proofing paper cost $2/sheet. Along with the ink I figure that each 11x14 cost about $3.00. If you want to mostly print 4x6 snapshots and an occasional big print - this is a great printer. If you want to print the big stuff you better be made of money and have a Staples right down the street!
I hate to part with it but this printer is going back into the box and back to Staples. Since I could not demo it in the store (imagine how much ink they'd have to use!!) they said I could bring it back within 14 days "no questions asked". I feel guilty about running lots of prints and then returning it but that's just what I'm going to do.
