Nice product, but hands free is lacking

I found the nuvi 680 to be a quality product that is dead on accurate the majority of the time. Very easy to use, especially for the technically impared. My wife, who has a hard time getting the TV on the right channel uses it regularly without issue.
The one thing that is very poor is the FM transmitter function and the built-in speaker for hands free cell use. The build-in speaker hardly has enough volume at highway speeds, even in a relatively quiet vehicle. Forget a pickup truck. This seems to be a common fault of Garmin devices, as I have the same issue with my Garmin Mobile and Blackberry.
The FM transmitter is practically useless, especially in areas with a large number of FM radio stations. It is difficult at best to find a frequency that isn't in use and even if you do, the background static is intolerable. I find this interesting considering the FM transmitters available for the iPod do an excellent job. If Garmin would straighten out the FM transmitter and built-in speaker issues, the nuvi would hands down be one of the finest person navigators on the market.
