Relatively Expensive, Yet High-Quality DVD Camcorder
Review From: vcheung, Apr 19, 2005
The Sony DCR-DVD403 DVD Handycam
camcorder features a 2.7" LCD display
that can rotate up to 270 degrees, a
10x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-
Sonnar T* lens, 120x digital zoom, and
a 3.3-megapixel CCD sensor resolution
housed in a lightweight design.
The DCR-DVD403 is compatible with 3"
DVD-R/-RW/+RW discs and uses Dolby
Digital 5.1 for audio recording. For
added versatility, the camcorder allows
users to choose between manual and auto-
focus. Imaging effects include: Sepia,
Mosaic, Pastel, Monotone, Old Movie,
Luminance Key, and four digital fades.
The camcorder?s shooting programs
include Landscape, Portrait, Spotlight,
Beach & Ski, Sports, and Sunset & Moon.
Sony?s Super SteadyShot image
stabilizer reduces shaking for smoother
video quality and the Super NightShot
system allows users to record video in
total darkness up to 10 feet away. The
DCR-DVD403 is USB 2.0-compatible,
allowing the camcorder to also be used
as an external DVD burner.
The only major drawback to the DCR-
DVD403 is that it is relatively
expensive when compared to other 3"
mini-disc camcorders on the market.
Overall the Sony DCR-DVD403 is a
lightweight and versatile camcorder
offering users many options while
providing high-quality recording.
