Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Apr 19, 2005
The Lowrance Iway 500C GPS navigation
system features a one-year warranty, a
12-channel GPS WAAS receiver, and a 5"
color TFT display with a 320 x 240
pixel resolution. One of the benefits
of the Iway 500C is that it can double
as an MP3 player. The system comes with
a built-in 20GB hard drive with 10GB
devoted to maps and 10GB for storing
approximately 3,000 MP3 files. The Iway
500C's MP3 player functions allow users
to browse files, create play lists,
adjust music with an equalizer, and
repeat, shuffle, and scan songs. The
navigation system is also able to store
up to 1,000 locations/waypoints and
uses visual and audible cues for easy
navigation. The system comes with a USB
cable, cover, cleaning cloth, cigarette-
lighter adapter, AC/DC power adapter,
rubber base, and a mounting bracket.
Though it comes with a rather large
screen, the Iway 500C is bulkier than
other GPS systems that have smaller
screens with the same resolution. Also,
the unit has an average amount of
Points-of-Interest, but not as many as
some competitors' units. Overall, the
Lowrance Iway 500C is best suited for
users who want a basic GPS navigation
system with the ability to store and
play MP3 files.
